Classic Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Classic Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Crisp at the edges, soft and chewy in the middle, and loaded with melty chocolate. This is the only chocolate chip cookie recipe you will ever need.

Prep: 15 min · Cook: 11 min · Serves: 24 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Whisk the flour, baking soda and salt together.
  3. Cream the butter and both sugars until light, about 2 minutes. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons onto the sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake 9–11 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers look soft. Cool on the pan 5 minutes.

Tips

Pull the cookies while the centers still look underbaked — they finish setting on the hot pan and stay chewy for days.
